Charolett Martin is a proud member of the 12th Episcopal District under the dynamic leadership of Bishop Michael L. Mitchell and his lovely wife, Supervisor Cordelia D. Mitchell. Charolett started her service to the church at Clayborn Chapel AME Church in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She began working with the Women’s Missionary Society as a college student at Henderson State University. Her dedication and commitment to the church led her to the positions of President and First Vice President of the 12th Episcopal District WMS.
A visionary leader, Charolett’s tenure as president brought innovated ideas to the 12th District. For many years the district had awarded a competitive scholarship to four young people graduating from high school each year. Realizing the value of an education, Charolett wanted to the WMS to provide scholarships to each young person that applied. In an effort to bring this vision to fruition she established the Scholarship Breakfast held each spring and the Le Tour de Twelfth, a Fun Run/Walk held annually during Christian Education Congress. In addition to supporting education for our youth, Charolett also supported strong, healthy family relationships in our communities by initiating the 12th District Angel Tree Project. The program focused not only on making sure the children of incarcerated families had a special Christmas, but also promoted the best gift of all—the presentation of Jesus into the lives of they young people and their guardians.
She is married to Presiding Elder Randolph W. Martin, Sr. who presides over the Hot Springs/Arkadelphia District. Charolett and Randolph have four adult children and five grandchildren. As the District Consultant, she is engaged in ministry with her husband, serving wherever the Lord plants them. Her favorite scripture and one she lives by is “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy and walk humbly with thy God,” Micha 6:8.
Charolett is also a member of the International Association of Commercial Administrators (IACA) and the Beta Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
